Anti-Sealing Rally

Please join the Atlantic Canadian Anti-Sealing Coalition on Saturday March 13th to mark Global Day of Action for Seals.

The Canadian government and commercial sealing industry have declared war on harp, hooded and grey seals.  Even baby seals in Nova Scotia nature reserves are bludgeoned to death with wooden bats for their SKIN. Canada's Dept of Fisheries & Oceans has been working with commercial sealers to facilitate a large-scale slaughter in the tens of thousands of grey seals on iconic Sable Island in Nova Scotia.   Commercial sealing is a marginal off-season activity employing a very small number of people that is unprofitable and extremely unpopular to Canadians. Yet each year the Canadian govt lavishes millions of our tax dollars on these cruel, unsustainable and unnecessary slaughters.   WITHOUT OUR TAX DOLLARS THE CRUEL SLAUGHTERS COULD NOT CONTINUE.   There are viable alternatives to sealing. It is NOT necessary to kill seals.  Join us to send a strong message to government that enough is enough - it is time to stop the slaughter, implement the alternatives and use our taxes for important matters, NOT the massacre of baby seals.

Friends Int'l (Halifax) Meetup
Hi All My Cool Friends, Old and New: REGULAR FRIENDS INT`L (HALIFAX) MEETUPS HAVE RESUMED !!! ============================================= This is TonyRomeo, the founder and director of Friends Int`l (Halifax). Our meetups are back in action. I am hoping that more people will show commitment and interest. Our social club is different from the other social meetups in Halifax . We are not relying on outdoor adventures, boardgames or dining out experiences, although there is nothing wrong with that. Our main focus is on good conversations, companionship, support and lively intellectual discussions over a cup of coffee. But occasionally we might go to do other fun things such as movies, music, sight-seeing or share a meal together. This is a rather inexpensive way to meet new people and share ideas and experiences. The location will remain the same - Perks Coffee (by Ferry Terminal). The time will be the same - at 8 pm. The meeting fee of one dollar will be waived during this promotional period. But because of my new work schedule, the day of the week will be change to Sunday night ( No more Saturday nights). So, let`s make it a success in the coming year and spread the words. (Any last minute changes to the meetup will be posted at least one day before the meetup and under the - Talk About this Meetup below this section.) By the way, I am still looking for people who can help me to organize events or promote this social club. Don't Worry, Be Happy, :-) [masked] PS. ( I am the guy with a sport jacket ,spiky hair and reading a book. In case of rainy days, my clothing will be different. )

Mocean Dance: Live in 3
Mocean's Home Season mainstage performance, Live in 3, is March 18-20, 2010 at Neptune Studio Theatre. The evening will feature three world premieres from three choreographers spanning coast to coast. From the West, Vancouver's Susan Elliott has created Through the Trees, a stunning and expressive new solo for Mocean Dance founding member, Sarah Rozee. Toronto's Sharon Moore has created Our Unfortunate Deaths, a trio for the company that is fiercely athletic, dark and quirky. Lastly, from the East, company Co-Artistic Director and founding member Carolle Crooks will premiere a new solo by Halifax's own Cory Bowles. Entitled Live from the Flash Pan, this is a work that is sure to appeal to anyone's inner rockstar. Intensely physical and emotionally rich, each work probes light and dark, vulnerability and power, the dramatic and the riotous. Sounding the emotional depths of the human experience, the dancers will tempt the audience to witness and play along. March 19, 2010, 8pm Neptune Studio Theatre, Halifax Box Office: (902) 429-7070 Tickets: $19.50 - $22.50 + HST (group rates available in person/by phone) **NOTE: if there is enough interest, I will call for group rate and reserve tickets but need solid 'Yes' to do so. Ã?Â? Ã?Â"A movement work in which the performers full attention is demanded to deliver precision, emotional fluidity and honest-to-goodness heart-pumping desperation.Ã?Â" Choreographer Sharon Moore Ã?Â? Ã?Â" creates unique and complete worlds and then opens peepholes for those who are brave enough to peer inÃ?Â" (Director/Juno Award Winner Gerry Atwell).

Alice In Wonderland - IMAX 3D
Anything Tim Burtin and Johhny Dep do together is always unique and putting them together with an update to the classic tale makes this movie a must see. This story is about a nineteen-year-old Alice as she returns to the whimsical world she first encountered as a young girl, reuniting with her childhood friends: the White Rabbit, Tweedledee and Tweedledum, the Dormouse, the Caterpillar, the Cheshire Cat, and of course, the Mad Hatter. Rotten Tomatoes Reviews, Trailers and Details Here I'll update with more accurate times once it is officially on the Empire schedule but the plan is to see the late afternoon matinee and then go out for supper after. After the Movie: We'll head over to East Side Marios for supper. I'll make reservations for us so please let me know in your RSVP if you will be coming to eat. Thank you.
